Speech and Language Therapy at BACA
Helping Kids with Autism Communicate and Connect
Communication is an important part of everyday life, but for many children on the autism spectrum, speech and language can be a challenge.
Speech therapy helps children with autism communicate better – whether through words, gestures, pictures, or communication devices. It also teaches social skills such as taking turns in conversation, making eye contact, and understanding body language.
At BACA, we offer speech-language therapy to help kids build the skills they need to express themselves, understand others, and interact with confidence.
How We Help
Our speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work closely with applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapists to create a personalized plan for each child. We focus on practical skills that help kids communicate at home, in school, and in social settings.
Every child is different, so we adapt our approach to fit their strengths and challenges.
Does Every Child Get Speech Therapy?
No, not every child at BACA needs speech therapy. Each child is different, and therapy is based on their individual needs. Some children only need applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy, while others benefit from both ABA and speech therapy. If speech therapy could help your child, our team will discuss it with you and create a plan that fits their needs.
Speech Therapy is a Spectrum
Every child with autism has different communication needs, and speech therapy looks different for each one.
- Some children learn to pronounce sounds and words correctly.
- Others focus on understanding language, like following directions and processing what others say.
- Some work on expressing themselves, whether through words, gestures, or communication devices.
- Therapy can also include social skills, like starting conversations and taking turns.
- For children who stutter or struggle with fluent speech, therapy helps with smooth, confident speaking.
At BACA, speech therapy is personalized — meeting each child where they are and helping them grow in the way that’s best for them.
